Stopped in, hoping for really good Indian food. Read the previous reviews and decided to take a chance. Had the 5 star reviews confirmed through my brother who lived in India for a while, with recommendation for the mango lassi smoothie.I did ask for the 4/5-star spice rating, but somehow only got the 2/5-star. The reviews did not lie, however. Very good food for an average price. Well worth it!I will be going again the next time I'm in Yakima!

Excellent food and AWESOME customer service!! The food was delicious. It's easy to share your meals since they come in serving dishes. I love curries but all the meals were great. We asked for a mini meal for our pup that wasn't too spicy. They brought me out a bowl right away and my dog was very happy. They also brought us a bag of ice for our take aways since it was hot and we had a ways to go. Highly recommend.

Very delicious food and excellent service. Not sure how we managed to have the place to ourselves but it was nice and peaceful. Wonderful dining experience. Im sure we will be back whenever we are in the area.

I loved their Indo-Chinese. Everyone in the party loved what they got. I wish I had this place in my hometown.

Great, friendly staff. It is beautifully arranged, and the cultural touch makes the environment appear as nice, fun, and welcoming. The food is delicious and I am happy to go back periodically. My wife and I love it here.

Hot, delicious food! The noon lunch bar is a great way to experience some of the considerable selections. Definitely going back.

If you haven't visited recently make sure to stop in. The owner has updated everything for the better, including the menu. You can still ordered old favorites but try something new as well...all is great. Definitely worth the drive.

My husband and I had the lunch buffet there were many different choices and all of them were delicious. I really love the butter chicken wonderful flavor! We will definitely go back again.

Arrived at 11:30 straight from a hot yoga class at Renu and threw ourselves into the buffet. All the food was delicious. They don’t make it very spicy (hot) here but the dishes do have wonderful sweet and complex flavors which is the right compromise. Today the buffet offered butter chicken, mango chicken, chicken tikka, rice, naan, veg curry, yellow dahl (a hallmark of real Indian food!), potato curry, potatoes with peas, fried bhajis plus an assortment of salads, relishes, poppadom and fruit plus rice pudding for dessert. What a treat. We ordered a couple of mango lassis to aid digestion. These were sweet and tangy. Perfect. A great Indian meal hidden in the most unexpected part of WA!They do play Bollywood movies and pop songs on 2 TVs here and if you are like fun stuff then you’ll enjoy the wackiness of it!

We went to Taj for the first time and had the Sunday buffet. Having never had Indian food before it was a perfect opportunity to try a little bit of everything. We've had multiple people recommend the butter chicken which hubby enjoyed. It was a bit sweet for me but I liked the chicken jalfrezi. We tried the coconut Indian ice cream which was like no ice cream I've ever had before and it was delicious. The food was all fresh and well made. The people were very friendly and helpful. When I told our waiter it was our first time eating Indian food he stopped and shared info about the food, ingredients and things he thought we should try. All in all it was a very enjoyable experience and we will def be back.😀

Great food, love the taste. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The owner personally come out and speaks to his customers and that's something that you don't normally see. I recommend coming in and giving it a try.Very good food, and a great atmosphere.

Good East Indian food. The buffet had a good variety of dishes. There's a bar there, too. One can also order from their menu.

My favorite dish is their butter sauce curry with chicken. I usually only eat my mom's curry but they know how to compete. Also, they make some seriously good drinks. Definitely reccomend!!

The 1st Indian restaurant I had been to, and since then I've tried a few more outside Yakima that don't even come close. Try the chicken biryani and mix in some Raita, it's amazing. I took my kids once and wasn't successful finding something they liked eating besides naan.

Food tasted good...specially the veg ones...non veg items are OK...not too many options in the lunch buffet....but overall good...

This place is off the charts! Great authentic Indian food! The owner and staff are among the friendliest people I have met. I live 101 miles away but I will definitely be back!!

The lunch buffet offers plenty of chicken & veggie dishes. Rice, Nan, and papadums compliment the dishes nicely. And they have hot chai!

Dining I'm for lunch was great. And delivery has been great a few times as well. Indian food makes the world a better place 🍴

Had the lunch buffet. Tandoori chicken was pretty good. They had several vegetable curries while meat curries were chicken only. You can add the hot sauce if you like it more spicy. I liked chicken biriyani. Chai was very authentic, i.e. with much sugar and spice, which I loved.The waiter was nice and quick to respond, happy to answer our questions about ingredients.

First off, I have eaten here many times, the food has always been consistently good. My last experience however was not so good. We found an insect in our butter chicken (see photos). When we contacted the restaurant, the staff stated that it was “impossible” for this insect to have come from their kitchen and that it is must be a “spice” - by the way, thanks for insulting my intelligence. The insect was clearly dead and cooked into the food. So unless this insect magically died instantly after falling into the food, I have no other explanation. I think I’ll be taking a break for awhile. Also if someone can identify the insect that would be great.

Excellent flavors, satisfying vegetarian options, good service. They were behind in serving some items on the buffet such as being out of naan for quite awhile. Overall a great experience!

It was nice place and we were lucky to choose this restaurant for a quick Sunday afternoon Indian buffet. It was authentic Indian taste. Hope they maintain that way for long.

Service is always nice even when they have a full house. Next time I'll be back with my relatives. Prices were reasonable. Similar to a place in Denver I loved.

It's a good place. I'm no native Punjab but have eaten in some fairly authentic places and this place is alright. Good service and food but portions are a little small.

Nice place to dine! Ordered tomato soup, dal makhani, and karahi paneer.Everything was really good, but the portions of sabjis were small for sharing between two people. Tandoori roti was amazing! Karahi paneer could be less oily.Gulab jamun was superb!! Kulfi was just fine!

Sunday buffet is a great time to try dishes you may not know you like. Their curry is offered without spiciness, so if you cannot handle the heat, you can still taste all the amazing flavors offered in this wonderful dish. If you want spicy hotness, hot sauce is offered on the side so you can crank it to your heart's content.

Really simple but delicious "family style" dinner. Many dishes come with Rice and is presented in large carriages, so you can share with the table. Nice atmosphere.

Great spot--the lunch buffet is always a great deal. Taj is very friendly and happy to serve. Take-out is great and they prepare it quickly.

....just very authentic and delicious Indian fare. The Taj has recently undergone new ownership. The Sunday brunch is now even better than before with a wider variety of dishes. We were dreading the new management, but they've worked really hard to make their mark in positive ways that display experience and a desire to serve the public here in Yakima with something delightfully different. If you love Indian cuisine, don't hesitate. It's very tasty with a nice atmosphere and friendly, prompt service. Go for Sunday brunch. That's where the value is.
